TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team will attempt to return to the win column Saturday when the Fightin' Engineers travel to Defiance the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) opener for both teams. The game is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m.

Rose-Hulman began the season with a 5-0-2 record including victories at Illinois Wesleyan (2-0) and vs. DePauw (1-0). The Fightin' Engineers climbed all the way to No. 23 in the country in a poll released by nscaa.com. In addition, Rose-Hulman was ranked as high as No. 3 in the Central Region. After three consecutive losses the last two weeks, the Engineers, now ranked No. 10 in the Central Region, look to return to top form Saturday.

Sophomore Ben Lyon has scored five of Rose-Hulman's nine team goals. Junior Dieter Schultz scored Rose-Hulman's last goal, a double-overtime strike from 20-yards out to defeat rival DePauw University 1-0 back on Sept. 17.

Senior goalkeeper Drew Miller has 28 career saves. The Cincinnati, Ohio, native ranks in the top 30 in the country in both goals against average (0.569) and save percentage (0.872).

"We knew it would be tough to get going on the score sheet this year," head coach Sean Helliwell said. "I'm very encouraged of how we played in the first half of North Park. Hopefully we can take that performance into the game at Defiance."

Defiance enters the game with a 2-8-1 record. The Yellow Jackets have victories over Trine (1-0) and Muskingum (2-1) on Sept. 28.

Rose-Hulman has won all eight meetings between the two schools including a 3-0 victory in Terre Haute in 2013.

After the game with Defiance, the Engineers hit the road again on Wednesday, Oct. 8 for a game at Mount St. Joseph. The game is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
