TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology volleyball team continues Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play Saturday, Oct. 4, with a noon match against Franklin. The Fightin' Engineers will also play a non-conference match with Illinois Wesleyan at 2 p.m.
Rose-Hulman enters homecoming weekend with an 8-10 record. The Engineers dropped their opening HCAC match 3-1 at Mount St. Joseph on Sept. 27.
As a team, Rose-Hulman hits a .154 clip while its opponents attack at a .184 clip. The Engineers have totaled 124 blocks through 18 matches in addition to nearly 1,993 digs.
Individually, freshman libero Gabi Razma ranks 18th in all of NCAA Division III with 348 total digs. Both Rose-Hulman middles, sophomore Emily McLendon and freshman Mackenzie Gossard, have over 50 blocks on the season. Offensively, sophomore Morgan Dreyer and freshman Becca Poppel have recorded over 100 kills while McLendon and junior Sarah Jensen can achieve the mark with two and three kills respectively on Saturday.
"We are excited to play at home for the first time in nearly a month," head coach Brenda Goble said. "We had a good week of practice leading up to our match with Franklin. They [Franklin] have played well this season. We expect them to bring their A game."
Franklin comes into the match with an 11-6 record including a 1-1 mark in HCAC play. Rose-Hulman's other opponents, Illinois Wesleyan, carries a 7-9 record to Terre Haute.
After the weekend, Rose-Hulman hosts Greenville on Monday, Oct. 6 following by Anderson on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
