TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology hosts Earlham College looks to solidify its lead in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer standings in Wednesday's home matchup with Earlham College.
The Fightin' Engineers stand 9-3-3 overall and 4-0-1 in conference play entering Wednesday's 7:30 p.m. contest against the Quakers (1-10-2, 1-3-1). Rose-Hulman has been hot in October, winning four conference matches and recording a scoreless draw against Transylvania.
Rose-Hulman is also ranked No. 9 in the latest NSCAA Division III Great Lakes Region weekly regional poll.
Sophomore Ben Lyon continues to lead the scoring attack with seven goals and 14 points. Juniors Dieter Schultz and Marco Cattani have tallied six and five points, respectively, to provide depth.
Rose-Hulman has relied primarily on defense so far this season, outscoring the opposition 17-8 in its 15 matches. Senior Drew Miller ranks 18th nationally in goals against average (0.51) and 25th in save percentage (.867) to lead the defense. Miller also ranks No. 2 among current NCAA Division III players in career shutouts (31).
Earlham most recently earned a draw against Mount St. Joseph and earned a conference victory against Bluffton earlier this month. Andrey Gavrilov and Ameer Yusuf lead the Quakers with two goals each.
After Wednesday's matchup, Rose-Hulman hits the road for Hanover College and another in-state conference match on Saturday afternoon.
