COMPLETE RESULTS
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology captured 12 first-place finishes on the men's side and nine victories on the women's side as the Fightin' Engineers swept Millikin and Lindenwood-Belleville in the swimming and diving home opener on Friday night at the Sports and Recreation Center.
The men's squad picked up a 249-37 win over Millikin and a 212-81 victory over Lindenwood-Belleville, while the women earned a 153-105 win over Lindenwood-Belleville and a 144-99 victory over Millikin.
Five individuals won two events each to lead the team sweep. On the men's side, junior Orion Martin earned first-place honors in the 100-freestyle (47.67 seconds) and the 200-butterfly (1:54.06). Junior Sam Gould added a sweep of one-meter (249.90 points) and three-meter diving (273.15).
Senior Celeste Kline led the three women's two-event winners by capturing the 200-butterfly (2:27.84) and the 500-freestyle (5:40.01). Sophomore Ellie Hong won the 100-backstroke (1:00.71) and the 200-backstroke (2:12.83), while junior Regen Foote swept one-meter (202.50 points) and three-meter diving (219.75).
Other women's winners included sophomore Savannah Rice in the 200-breaststroke (2:48.49), freshman Bethany Lefeber in the 100-butterfly (1:04.71) and the 200-medley relay team of Hong, Rice, Kline and Lefeber in 1:57.74.
On the men's side, the Engineers earned three 200-meter event victories. Freshman Cam Gill won the backstroke in 2:00.65, freshman Ben Stone claimed the 200-freestyle in 1:46.69, and sophomore Alexander Yaung won the 200-individual medley in 2:03.47.
Other individual event winners included freshman Patrick King in the 100-butterfly (53.43), junior Matthew King in the 1,000-freestyle (10:16.61) and freshman Evan Meredith in the 500-freestyle (4:57.64).
Rose-Hulman also swept top honors in the two relay events. The team of Gill, sophomore Pierce Bartine, Martin and Stone won the 200-medley relay in 1:39.96, while Martin, freshman Kirk Dickson, Gill and Stone won the 400-freestyle relay in 3:14.35.
Rose-Hulman returns to action at Illinois Wesleyan University on Nov. 1.
