TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team honors four senior who will play their final regular season home game Saturday, Nov. 1, when the Fightin' Engineers host Bluffton University. The game is slated to begin at 2:30 p.m.
Rose-Hulman enters the game with an 11-4-3 record overall including a 6-1-1 marking in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play. The Engineers recent defeated Anderson University 1-0 on Wednesday, and clinched a home game in the HCAC Tournament semifinals for the fourth consecutive year. With a victory over Bluffton, Rose-Hulman clinches a share of the HCAC regular season conference title.
Sophomore Nick Kowalkowski provided the game's only goal in Rose-Hulman's victory over Anderson. The New Lenox, Ill., native scored on header off of a corner kick from junior Dieter Schultz. The assist was Schultz's six of the season, a team high. Sophomore Ben Lyon leads the Engineers in goals with seven and points with 14.
Rose-Hulman has one of the nation's top defensive units as the Engineers have shutout 11 of their 18 opponents. Senior goalkeeper Drew Miller has tallied 62 saves this season and has a program-high 33 career shutouts.
Four seniors will be playing their final regular season home games Saturday against Bluffton.
Andrew Bartush - Has started in all 81 careers games including all 18 of Rose-Hulman's contests this season. Bartush has helped anchor a defensive unit that has shut out 33 opponents throughout the last four seasons. Bartush has tallied three goals and three assists during his time playing for the Engineers including two goals this season.
Fletcher Carlson - Has appeared in 18 contests during his career including four this season. Carlson has totaled three career points including scoring his first goal during his sophomore season.
Drew Miller - Has appeared in 75 games while starting 73 throughout his career. Miller has totaled 260 career saves along with 33 career shutouts. Miller's career record as Rose-Hulman's goalkeeper stands at 46-16-11.
Brian Ruane - Has appeared in 30 career games while seeing time in 12 contests this season. Brian has provided Rose-Hulman with key minutes in the midfield and has fired seven shots this season.
Rose-Hulman can clinch home field advantage throughout the HCAC Tournament if it gets a better results that Transylvania on Saturday. The Pioneers end their regular season against Anderson.
