TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team looks to improve to 2-0 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play Wednesday, Oct. 8 when the Fightin' Engineers travel to Mount St. Joseph for a match slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
Ranked No. 9 in the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Region this week, Rose-Hulman comes into the game with a 6-3-2 record. The Engineers opened HCAC play with a 2-1 victory at Defiance last Saturday, Oct. 4. The victory over the Yellow Jackets snapped a four game losing streak.
Senior goalkeeper Drew Miller has tallied six of his 28 career shutouts through 11 games. Sophomore Ben Lyon continues to lead Rose-Hulman offensively scoring five goals. Six other Engineers have scored a lone goal this season.
"We expect a tough game against Mount St. Joseph," head coach Sean Helliwell said. "We need to do what we did last week and get another conference win on the road.
Mount St. Joseph enters the game with a 2-9 record including a 2-1 loss to Franklin in the HCAC opener to both teams.
Rose-Hulman leads the all-time series with Mount St. Joseph 8-1. Sean Helliwell has yet to lose to the Lions with the Engineers only loss coming in 2006. Rose-Hulman has won each of the last two meetings 5-0.
After the game with Mount St. Joseph, Rose-Hulman returns home to play Transylvania on Saturday, Oct. 11. The game is slated to begin at 3 p.m. from the Intramural Field.
