TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology returns to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball home action with a matchup against Anderson University on Wednesday at 7 pm.
The Fightin' Engineers stand 9-12 overall after a thrilling come-from-behind five-set victory over Greenville College on Monday night. Freshman Gabi Razma ranks 12th nationally in total digs (424) and 33rd nationally in digs per set (5.51) to lead the Rose-Hulman statistics so far this season. Sophomore Emily McLendon also stands 25th in total blocks (72) and in the top 75 in blocks per set (0.94).
Junior Sarah Jensen and sophomore Morgan Dreyer have provided balanced performances that have bolstered the attack. Jensen has seven triple-doubles this season (kills/assists/digs) to increase her career total to a school record 19. Dreyer has added three triple-doubles in 2014.
Freshman Becca Poppel (127 kills) and senior Briana Harvey (122) have crossed the 100-kills mark, and freshman Mackenzie Gossard has tallied more than 50 blocks.
Anderson stands 7-12 overall and snapped a four-match losing streak with a five-set win over Marietta on Saturday. Annie Bachman has smashed 209 kills, with Michelle Hochstedler (147) and Melissa Baab (131) providing depth. Riley Troyer averages 7.2 assists per set, and Megan Wade leads the back row with 325 digs.
After Wednesday's match, Rose-Hulman returns to action at Hanover College with two matches on Saturday. The Fightin' Engineers face the host Panthers at 1 p.m. and square off with Ohio Wesleyan at 3 p.m.
