TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology volleyball team hits the road for the season opening Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference / Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Challenge at Manchester University on Friday and Saturday.
The Fightin' Engineers finished 15-18 overall last season and were fourth in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference at 5-4 in league play. The Fightin' Engineers were picked to finish sixth this season in the HCAC preseason coaches poll.
Rose-Hulman opens the season with two matches on Friday and returns to the court twice on Saturday.
The Fightin' Engineers face Trine (16-15 last season) at 3 p.m. and Kalamazoo (13-15 in 2013) at 7 p.m. on Friday. Rose-Hulman then battles Olivet (9-20 last season) at 11 a.m. and Adrian (11-17 in 2013) on Saturday.
Rose-Hulman returns three starters and nine letter winners from the 2013 squad. The team has also been bolstered by the addition of six freshmen.
After this weekend's action, Rose-Hulman returns to the court at Greenville College on Tues., Sept. 2.
