BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team finally allowed a goal in the Fightin' Engineers' 4-1 loss at Illinois Wesleyan Sunday, Sept. 14.
The loss was the first for Rose-Hulman on the 2014 season. The Engineers went the first 495:41 of the season without surrendering a goal until Amanda Kaiser's goal 41 seconds into the second half gave the Titans a 1-0 lead.
Rose-Hulman responded by getting on the board with an Illinois Wesleyan own goal off of a corner kick from senior Mackenzie Christensen. The Titans were not to be denied, however, scoring three goals in the game's final 20 minutes.
Junior goalkeeper Lucinda Combs turned in another impressive performance tallying nine saves on 21 Illinois Wesleyan shots. The Engineers fired five shots in the contest with two of them being on net.
Rose-Hulman dips to 5-1 on the season and returns to action next week Sunday, Sept. 21, when the Engineers travel to Danville, Ky., for a 2 p.m. game with Centre.
