CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology volleyball team opened Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play with a 19-25, 25-16, 25-23, 25-19 loss at Mount St. Joseph on Saturday afternoon.
Junior Sarah Jensen led the Fightin' Engineers with 11 kills. Senior Briana Harvey added nine kills, freshman Becca Poppel tallied eight, and sophomore Morgan Dreyer pitched in with seven kills. Dreyer had a match-high 16 assists, and Jensen had 11. Jensen finished off a triple-double with 15 digs.
Freshman Mackenzie Gossard joined Dreyer with three block assists, and freshman Gabi Razma had a team-high 25 digs.
Rose-Hulman stands 8-10 overall and 0-1 in HCAC play, while Mount St. Joseph improved to 9-10 on the season and 1-0 in league games. The Fightin' Engineers host Franklin and Illinois Wesleyan as part of Homecoming festivities on Oct. 4.
