TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team heads to Elsah, Ill. Thursday for a non-conference game with Principia College slated to begin at 7:30 p.m. (CT) or 8:30 p.m. (ET).
Rose-Hulman has started the 2014 season with victories over Kalamazoo and Greenville and ties with Alma and Millikin for a 2-0-2 record. The Fightin' Engineers surrendered their first goal of the season in the 21st minute against Millikin in Decatur, Ill. Offensively, sophomore Ben Lyon has been Rose-Hulman's spark on offense scoring all of the team's four goals this season.
The Fightin' Engineers are also No. 9 in this week's NCAA Division III Great Lakes Region rankings, in results released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Principia comes into the game with an 0-4-1 record. After three losses to begin the season, the Panthers narrowly lost to DePauw 1-0 before a scoreless draw with Monmouth on Sept. 9.
"I would expect a very tough game from Principia away from home," head men's soccer coach Sean Helliwell said. "We have to bounce back from Saturday and get a win on the road."
After the game with Principia, Rose-Hulman finishes a four-game road trip with a game at Illinois Wesleyan Sunday, Sept. 14. The Engineers then return home for a game with DePauw on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
