HANOVER, Ind. - The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's basketball team fell to Hanover College 71-55 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action Wednesday, Jan. 21.
The Fightin' Engineers led by as many as five points at the 11:50 mark of the first half, but Hanover stormed back to take a 35-26 lead into halftime. The Panthers would lead by as many as 18 midway through the second half.
Sophomore Abbie Marshall was the lone Engineers to score in double figures with 11 points. The St. Louis, Mo., native also chipped in five rebounds, two steals, one block, and one assist. Sophomore Josie Schmidt and senior Gracie Gibbs added nine and eight points respectively off of the bench. The two also combined for 13 of the team's 40 rebounds.
Rose-Hulman shot 42.3 percent from the field, but committed 27 turnovers in the contest. Hanover, which was led by Megan Caudill with 24 points, shot 36.6 percent from the field. The Panthers attempted 71 shots while the Engineers attempted 52 shots.
The Engineers drop to 9-7 on the season including 5-4 after the first half of HCAC play. Rose-Hulman returns to action when it travels to Transylvania on Saturday, Jan. 24 for a 1 p.m. contest.
