FRANKLIN, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology earned 11 first-place finishes as the men's squad finished first and the women placed second in a Friday night dual matchup with Franklin College.
The men's squad captured a 165-74 victory in the team scoring, while the Franklin women topped the Fightin' Engineers 145-73.
Sophomore Alexander Yaung and junior Orion Martin paced the Fightin' Engineer men's squad with two indiviudal wins each. Yaung won the 100-breaststroke (1:03.31) and the 200-individual medley (2:02.16), while Martin captured top honors in the 50-freestyle (21.81) and the 100-freestyle (47.22).
Junior Sam Gould added maximum team points for the diving with another NCAA Division III Regional total of 431.55 points in the one-meter event.
Other individual men's winners included sophomore Matt Schulstad in the 100-butterfly (54.55 seconds) and junior Matthew King in the 500-freestyle (4:57.02).
Rose-Hulman also won the 200-medley relay event. The team of Kirk Dickson, Marshall Yeoman, Pierce Bartine and Cam Gill won in 1:39.69.
Sophomore Ellie Hong led the women's performance with first-place finishes in the 50-freestyle (25.03) and the 100-backstroke (1:00.15). Junior Regen Foote added maximum team points in one-meter diving with 382.40 points in 11 dives.
Rose-Hulman returns to action in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin championships over the next two weekends. The diving competition is set for Feb. 6-7 at Illinois Wesleyan, while the swimming championship take place Feb. 12-14 at Pleasant Prairie, Wis.
