TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Mount St. Joseph University rallied from a two-sets-to-one deficit to top Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology 25-23, 20-25, 22-25, 28-26, 15-11 in a two-hour volleyball battle on Wednesday night at Hulbert Arena.
Rose-Hulman rallied from a 24-21 deficit in the fouth set to force extra points, before the Lions captured the two-point win. Mount St. Joseph withstood a late Rose-Hulman charge in the fifth set to secure the victory.
Jessica Wilgenbusch led the Mount St. Joseph offense with 20 kills. Lysnsee Spatz and Sydney Wilzbach had 27 assists each.
Junior Emily McLendon led the Rose-Hulman offense with 13 kills and four block assists. Freshman Julia Hammond was also in double figures with 11 kills, and freshman Bailey MacInnis had nine kills.
Senior Sarah Jensen nearly had a triple-double with 40 assists, 15 digs and eight kills. Sophomore Gabi Razma led the squad with 25 digs.
Mount St. Joseph improved to 9-15 and 2-2 in HCAC play, while Rose-Hulman dropped to 11-15 and 0-4. The Fightin' Engineers host Hanover College on Saturday at 5 p.m.
