TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology closes the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season with a matchup at Transylvania University on Saturday at 2 p.m.
Rose-Hulman enters the final day of the regular season with a chance to qualify for the six-team HCAC Tournament. The Fightin' Engineers need a victory at Transylvania and some help to earn a bid to the tournament that begins on Nov. 4.
The Fightin' Engineers stand 14-16 overall and 3-5 in HCAC play entering Saturday's match. Transylvania has a 16-8 record and is 5-3 in league matches.
Freshman Julia Hammond leads the team with 240 kills, followed by freshman Bailey MacInnis (198) and sophomore Becca Poppel (165). Graduate student Sarah Jensen has a team-high 480 assists, and sophomore Gabi Razma leads the squad with 670 digs. Junior Emily McLendon (98) and sophomore Mackenzie Gossard (86) have the team-high in blocks.
The six-team HCAC Tournament begins with first round action on Nov. 4. Semifinal matches and the championship match in the HCAC Tournament will take place at Hanover College on Nov. 7-8.
