TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology returns to men's basketball action with a trip to the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
Rose-Hulman stands 1-0 on the season entering Saturday's 5:30 p.m. Central Time matchup against Fontbonne University. The Fightin' Engineers will face either Illinois Wesleyan or Wilmington on Sunday, at either 2 or 4 p.m. Central Time depending on the result of Saturday's games.
Rose-Hulman opened the 2015-16 season with an 85-78 victory at Millikin University last Saturday. Stephen Schueth scored a team-high 20 points, Collin Wojcik scored 18 and Luke Callahan added 16 points to lead a balanced scoring attack.
The 85 points scored by Rose-Hulman marked the most scored by the Fightin' Engineers in the Rusty Loyd coaching era. The Fightin' Engineers also tied a school record with 36 made free throws, including 14 by Schueth.
Fontbonne won its season opener 84-73 over Morthland last Saturday. The Griffins feature a first-year head coach is Lance Thornhill, who previously served as the assistant coach at Fontbonne.
Saturday's opponent will either be Illinois Wesleyan or Wilmington. Illinois Wesleyan is 1-1 on the season after an 88-86 loss to Benedictine and a 150-117 win over Greenville. The Wilmington Quakers narrowly dropped their opener 98-96 at Mount St. Joseph on Sunday.
After this weekend's action, Rose-Hulman returns home to face Wabash College on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the home opener at Hulbert Arena.
