TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology completes its non-conference home schedule with Thursday's 8 p.m. matchup against Illinois Tech.
The Fightin' Engineers stand 5-3 on the season and 2-1 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play after winning a pair of games last week. Rose-Hulman defeated Franklin 82-80 and topped Bluffton 66-62 to move within one game of the early lead in the HCAC standings.
Freshman Charlie Aimone highlighted last week's efforts and was named HCAC Player of the Week on Monday. Aimone came off the bench to average 20.5 points over the two wins, including 25 points and the game winning three-pointer in the final seconds against Franklin.
Rose-Hulman features a starting lineup with three starters averaging in double figures. Matt Loesing leads the team at 12.8 points per game, followed closely by Jimmy Miller at 12.3. Tyler Duffy adds 10.0 points per contest. The starting lineup has also included Dillon Reynolds (9.0 ppg) and Stephen Schueth (7.4 ppg).
Illinois Tech enters with a 1-8 record but several close losses. The Scarlet Hawks dropped an overtime decision to Coe on Sunday, defeated Knox 80-63 on Friday, and have lost by 10 points or less to Anderson, Carthage and MacMurray. Samuel Rarick leads three players in double figures at 19.6 points per game, followed by Anthony Mosley (17.4 ppg) and Jake Digorgio (14.2 ppg).
After Thursday's game, Rose-Hulman will conclude the 2015-16 non-conference schedule with a trip to Blackburn College on Saturday at 5 p.m. Central Time.
