COMPLETE RESULTS
ADA, Ohio - The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's track and field team placed second and the women placed sixth at the 12-team Joe Banks Invitational at Ohio Northern University on Saturday.
On the women's side, freshman Jaclyn Setina won the high jump with a mark of 5' 5" - the second highest jump in Rose-Hulman history behind five-time national champion Liz Evans.
Senior Addie Johnson placed second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.72. Johnson also teamed up with sophomore Christine Harper, freshman Gabi Razma, and Setina to place fourth in the 4-x-400 meter dash with a time of 4:15.35.
Razma added a third place finish in the triple jump. The Durango, Colo., native jumped 34' 8 1/4".
On the men's side, the men swept the top three spots in the shot put to lead the team performance. Sophomore Charles Spaeth won the event with a throw of 51' 1" - a personal career best and fourth all-time in school history. Sophomore Andrew Okruch and freshman Josh Himes placed second and third, respectively.
Rose-Hulman finished in the top two spots in the 60-meter hurdles as senior Blake Schulthies and sophomore Isaiah Smith finished with times of 8.59 and 8.67 seconds, respectively.
Freshman Jordan Moothery provided depth in the sprints with a school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.97, breaking the previous record held by Jeremiah Edwards.
Senior Ryan Meyer won the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:35.08, beating the competition by over a second. Freshman Jonathan Hall finished third in the 3,000-meter run with a a time of 9:13.74.
The Engineers placed third in both the 4-x-200 meter and 4-x-400 meter relays.
In the pole vault, sophomores Nathan Green and Josh Blome both recorded season-highs by jumping 15' 0 1/4". In the triple jump, sophomore Brendan Smyth placed third jumping 42' 8 3/4". Coach Larry Cole noted that this marked the first time in his 30+ year coaching career that two pole vaulters cleared 15' in the same meet.
Rose-Hulman returns to action next Saturday, Feb. 14, when the Engineers travel to Greencastle for the DePauw Invitational. The meet is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
