GAME 1 BOX SCORE

GAME 2 BOX SCORE

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology relied on a strong offensive performance to sweep a doubleheader at Blackburn College 14-2 and 10-0 on Sunday afternoon.

In the game one victory, the Fightin' Engineers tacked on a run in the first before freshman Jenny Miller clobbered her fourth home run of the season to put Rose-Hulman up 4-0 in the third inning.

Rose-Hulman continued its offensive surge plating two runs in the fifth and six innings before hanging a six-spot on Blackburn in the seventh inning.

Miller picked up her first victory of the season allowing eight hits and striking out two Beavers in seven innings. The Elkhart, Ind. native also went 2-3 from the batter's box with four RBI and two walks. Senior Carly Heibel tallied three hits while junior Jett Bender, freshman Jessica Will, and freshman Gabbi Markison each added two hits. As a team, the Engineers notched 14 hits and drew five walks.

In the nightcap, Rose-Hulman scored five times in the first and second innings before cruising to victory.  Senior Jessica Ahlborn blasted a three-run home run and added a double with four RBIs and two runs scored to pace the offense.  Heibel smashed a two-run double, a single, scored twice and also had four RBIs.

Junior Marissa Stout added two hits, including a double, with one run scored.  Janel Lake also had a single and two RBIs, while Markison scored twice in the victory.

The offense helped Heibel earned the pitching win in her first start of the season in the circle.  Heibel allowed just a fifth inning single to Jaclyn Elmore and struck out two in the victory.

Rose-Hulman improved to 13-3 on the season, while Blackburn dropped to 0-10.  The Fightin' Engineers host Bluffton University in a key Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday at the Engineer Softball Field.
