ADA, Ohio -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology earned a pair of first-place finishes at the Ohio Northern Last Chance Meet on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Blake Schulthies scored a career-high 4,741 points in the heptathlon to lead the individual performances. Schulthies set a Rose-Hulman all-time top-five time in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.11 seconds.
His top heptathlon marks include 844 points in the 60-meter dash; 804 points for a time if 8.74 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles; and 702 points for clearing 14' 1 1/4" in the pole vault. The event also included the 1,000-meter run, high jump, long jump and shot put.
Freshman Jaclyn Setina also captured first-place honors in the women's high jump with a mark of 5' 3".
Other top-five finishers included Andrew Okruch with a fourth-place effort in the shot put (50' 1 3/4"); Charles Spaeth with a fifth place in the shot put (49' 3"); and Gabi Razma in the women's triple jump (34' 5").
Rose-Hulman's competition team also included Brendon Mattiuz with a seventh place in the 800 meters (1:57.05); senior Zac Erba with a 10th in the weight throw (51' 5 3/4"); and Okruch with a 14th in the weight throw (42' 9").
Rose-Hulman will learn whether any individuals have qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships over the next 36 hours.
