GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's tennis team won its fourth consecutive Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) match Wednesday, April 8, with a 9-0 sweep of Anderson University.
The match was played inside the DePauw Indoor Track and Tennis Center due to weather.
The Fightin' Engineers won all six singles flights yielding no more than two games in any set. Freshman Cam Metzger defeated Ethan Hillman 6-2, 6-0 at third singles for his seventh singles victory of the season. Sophomores Brandon Benedict and Georges Adam along with freshman Derek Benedict each notched their sixth singles victory of the season playing primarily first, second, and fifth singles respectively. Junior Matt Conrad and freshman Tyler Haas each collected victory No. 5 on the year with wins at fourth and sixth singles respectively.
In doubles, Rose-Hulman shuffled its lineup spending out two new pairings. Junior Erin Miller and sophomore Joe Kendall moved from their third doubles flight to first doubles for the match and claimed an 8-1 victory over Andrew Gingerich and Jacob Hopper. Seniors Daniel Brindley and Ray Montgomery added an 8-3 victory at second doubles while sophomore Zach Rothenberg and freshman Brendan Goldacker triumphed 8-1 at third doubles.
Rose-Hulman improves to 6-3 on the season including a 4-0 mark in HCAC competition. Anderson drops to 0-3 and 0-2 in league play.
