TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Manchester University earned a tightly contested 25-21, 25-21, 25-23 over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball action on Wednesday night at Hulbert Arena.
Courtney Chowning led the Manchester offense with 12 kills, and Hannah Tevis aded 10. Dakota Stanichuk recorded a match-high 35 assists for the Spartans.
For Rose-Hulman, freshman Julia Hammond led the squad with 10 kills and hit at a .296 clup. Sophomore Becca Poppel added seven kills. Freshman Marissa Gollnick (18) and senior Sarah Jensen (11) both reached double figures in assists.
Sophomore Gabi Razma had a team-high 26 digs, and the duo of Mackenzie Gossard and Emily McLendon had four total blocks each.
Manchester improved to 6-9 and 1-1 in league play, while Rose-Hulman dropped to 8-10 and 0-2 in conference matches. The Fightin' Engineers travel to the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
