RHIT, SMWC Set for Wednesday Volleyball Matchup

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology squares off with crosstown rival St. Mary-of-the-Woods College for the first time in volleyball on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Jeanne Knoerle Complex at St. Mary-of-the-Woods.

Rose-Hulman stands 5-1 entering the matchup after finishing 3-1 at the Washington University Invitational last weekend. St. Mary-of-the-Woods has a perfect 4-0 record in their inaugural season that includes three home wins.

Rose-Hulman and St. Mary-of-the-Woods have one common opponent in Blackburn College. Both teams swept Blackburn in three sets last week.

The Fightin' Engineers and Pomeroys begin a crosstown rivalry in their fourth sport with Wednesday's volleyball matchup. The two have faced in women's basketball, softball and soccer consistently since over the past decade.

After Wednesday's matchup, Rose-Hulman will host its annual Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. St. Mary-of-the-Woods travels to Hanover College for two matches on Saturday.
