TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology travels to Defiance College for a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday at 3:15 p.m.
The Fightin' Engineers crossed the 100-point mark for the first time in nine years on Wednesday with a 103-86 win over Anderson. All five starters reached double figures in scoring, led by Stephen Schueth with 19 points.
Rose-Hulman stands 7-7 overall and 4-3 in HCAC action after Wednesday's win. Senior Matt Loesing leads the team in scoring average at 13.2 points per game, followed by Jimmy Miller at 11.1. Dillon Reynolds currently scores 10.7 points per game, and Duffy is the fourth starter averaging double figures at 10.1.
Defiance also has a 7-7 record and is 5-2 in conference play, one game behind HCAC leader Mount St. Joseph. Tyler Alexander leads the Yellow Jackets in scoring at 16.6 points per game. Michael Parker (13.1 ppg) and Chris Holmes (10.1) also average in double figures for the squad.
Defiance has won two of its last three games to reach the .500 mark and improve to 5-2 in conference play. The Yellow Jackets defeated Anderson 78-75 on Jan. 6 and topped Earlham 82-57 on Wednesday.
Rose-Hulman holds a narrow 11-10 series lead over Defiance and the HCAC all-time series is tied at 10-10. The Yellow Jackets won both of last year's meetings as part of winning the HCAC regular season and conference tournament championships.
After Saturday's game, Rose-Hulman travels to Earlham College for an in-state matchup on Jan. 20.
