TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology won 20 of 27 events and the men's team earned a convincing victory in the Terre Haute Double Dual on Friday night at the Sports and Recreation Center.

The Rose-Hulman men's squad earned a 103-22 victory over Manchester University in team scoring, while the women narrowly fell 69-53 to the Spartans.  In NCAA Division I action, Indiana State University defeated Illinois State University 81.5-63.5 in the men's competition and 78-67 in women's action.

Junior Isaiah Smith led the Fightin' Engineers with three first-place performances.  Smith won the long jump (21' 3 1/2"), 60-meter dash (6.16), 200-meter dash (23.22) and was part of the winning 4-x-400 relay team with a mark of 3:31.09.

Other running event men's winners for Rose-Hulman included senior Dimitris Valioulis in the 60-meter hurdles (8.63); Smith in the 60-meters (6.16) and 200-meters (23.22); sophomore Josh Hennig in the 400-meters (52.99); junior Brendon Mattiuz in the 800-meters (1:59.94); senior Brandon Loyer in the mile (4:28.97); and sophomore Matt Hill in the 3,000 meters (8:58.23). 

Rose-Hulman also swept the six field events on the night.  Winners included Smith in the long jump (21' 3 1/2"); freshman Kenton Hipsher in the high jump (5' 8 3/4"); junior Nathan Green in the pole vault (15' 0 1/4"); sophomore Josh Himes in the weight throw (48' 4 1/2"); junior Brendan Smyth in the triple jump (42' 8 3/4"); and junior Charles Spaeth in the shot put (51' 2 3/4").

The winning men's 4-x-400 meter relay team included Smyth, Smith, Hennig and freshman David Borden with a time of 3:31.09.

On the women's side, senior Mallory McDevitt set the lone Rose-Hulman school record on the night with a winning pole vault mark of 10' 7".  Sophomore Gabi Razma won two events, capturing the long jump (15' 9 3/4") and triple jump (34' 6 3/4") top honors.  Sophomore Jaclyn Setina added a victory in the high jump with a mark of 5' 4 1/4".

Senior Addie Johnson added a win in the 400-meter dash with a mark of 1:00.21.  The 4-x-400 meter relay team of Razma, Johnson, Victoria Heckenlively and Anne Boxeth capped the meet with a victory in a time of 4:15.83.

Rose-Hulman returns to action with another home meet, the Friday Night Invitational next weekend at the Sports and Recreation Center.
