Women's Basketball Win Streak Hits Eight

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology outscored Earlham College 23-8 in the fourth quarter to extend its women's basketball winning streak to eight games with a 62-49 victory on Wednesday night at Hulbert Arena.

Freshman Brianna Gliesmann came off the bench with 14 points and five rebounds on 5-7 from the field and 2-2 from three-point range to lead the Rose-Hulman offense.  Junior Kristen Belyea added nine points on two three-pointers to balance the attack.

Earlham held a 30-24 halftime lead and maintained a narrow 41-39 lead after the third quarter.  Rose-Hulman answered with 11 consecutive points to start the fourth quarter and capture a 50-41 edge.  The Fightin' Engineers shot 56% from the field in the fourth quarter and held Earlham to just 25%.

Other key contributors for Rose-Hulman included freshman Chiarra Franklin with seven points and five rebounds; junior Josie Schmidt with six points; and Abbie Marshall, Ally Bromenschenkel and Andi Evers with five points each.

Earlham featured a balanced scoring attack led by Kiara Scott with 13 points.  Kasin Spay added 12 points and Hannah Franklin scored 10 for the Quakers.

Rose-Hulman extended its winning streak to eight games and remains tied for second in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference standings.  The Fightin' Engineers stand 13-3 overall and 7-2 in league play.  Rose-Hulman returns to action at Transylvania on Saturday.
