TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology returns to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball action with a trip to Hanover College on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Rose-Hulman and Hanover are both among five teams tied for first place in the HCAC at 3-1 in league play. The Fightin' Engineers have wins over Bluffton, Franklin and Transylvania, while Hanover has defeated Anderson, Manchester and Transylvania in conference action.
Rose-Hulman stands 6-5 overall after a 72-63 win over Transylvania on Saturday. The Fightin' Engineers placed all five starters in double figures, led by Jimmy Miller with 14 points. Matt Loesing leads the team in scoring at 13.4 ppg, followed by a balanced attack featuring Miller (11.6), Tyler Duffy (10.0), Charlie Aimone (9.9) and Dillon Reynolds (9.8).
The Fightin' Engineers have won their last three conference games dating back to the league opener. Rose-Hulman is outshooting their opponents from two-point and three-point range, while also holding a rebounding edge of +3.5 per game this season.
Hanover comes into Wednesday's home matchup with a 5-6 record and a 3-1 conference mark. Four starters average double figures in scoring, led by Wes McKinney at 12.9 points per game. The offensive attack also features Cam Falls (11.8 ppg), Michael Van Kleunen (11.4) and VJ Billups (11.3).
Hanover enters the matchup after defeating Anderson in its most recent conference game on Saturday. The Panthers hold a 48-37 overall series lead over Rose-Hulman, but the Fightin' Engineers lead the HCAC series 13-9. Hanover won the most recent meeting 65-63 in the opening round of the 2015 HCAC Tournament.
After Wednesday's game, Rose-Hulman returns to action on Saturday with a 4 p.m. home matchup against Manchester University.
