TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team opened HCAC play with a thrilling win over visiting Transylvania University Saturday during Homecoming Weekend.
After a scoreless 90 minutes of play the game went into extra time. During the second period of extra time, a scramble inside the box resulted in a penalty kick for the Fightin' Engineers. Madeline Romeo converted the penalty kick in the 106th minute for her fourth goal of the season. The Rose-Hulman bench rushed the field following the goal.
With the win, the women improve to 7-4 overall and 1-0 in the HCAC.
The next match for the Fightin' Engineers will be on Wednesday October 5. The team will play HCAC foe Earlham at 7 p.m. at Intramural Field.
