DEFIANCE, Ohio -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team shutout Defiance College by a final score of 2-0 on Saturday October 15.
Junior Madeline Romeo got the scoring started for the Fightin' Engineers in the 37th minute with her fifth goal of the season on a pass from Maddy Twetten. RHIT took a lead of 1-0 into halftime.
Early in the second half Kirby Kern netted a header on a cross from Stef Panzenhagen to increase Rose-Hulman's lead to 2-0.
Rose-Hulman out shot Defiance 30-4 and earned 12 corner kicks. Defiance had just one corner kick.
With the win, RHIT improved to 10-4 and 4-1 in the HCAC. Their next match will be Wednesday October 19 at Mt. St. Joseph. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
