Women's Tennis Improves to 8-1 with Anderson Win

ANDERSON, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology improved to 8-1 on the women's tennis season with a 6-3 victory at Anderson University on Thursday afternoon.

Anderson earned two of three doubles points to start the match and gain an early lead.  The team of Anna Thompson and Naomi Bhagat provided Rose-Hulman's early win by an 8-5 count at the No. 1 flight.

In singles play, Rose-Hulman earned four straight set wins and one three-set victory to earn the 6-3 match win.  Thompson, Bella Evans and Bhagat won at the top three positions, with Sydney Short and Becca Stanley claiming victories at the No. 5 and No. 6 flights.

Rose-Hulman improved to 8-1 overall and 6-1 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play.  The Fightin' Engineers, who travel to Ohio Wesleyan on Friday, have secured the No. 2 seed for the upcoming HCAC Tournament to be held in Indianapolis on Oct. 15-16.
