WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology battled Otterbein University in a tight five-set match before falling 18-25, 25-16, 22-25, 25-19, 15-6 on Friday night to open a three-match Ohio weekend.
Sophomores Julia Hammond and Bailey MacInnis led the Fightin' Engineers with 12 kiils each. Freshman Mia Styczynski also reached double with 10 kills.
Freshman Katie Orbeta had a team-high 17 assists, with junior Alison Rogozinski contributing 14 assists. Junior Gabi Razma paced three players in double figures with 26 digs. ERogozinski had 13 with Hammond contributing 10.
Rose-Hulman recorded an impressive 11 blocks, led by Emily McLendon with six block assists. Junior Mackenzie Gossard also had five block assists.
Rose-Hulman stands 9-11 overall, while Otterbein improved to 12-7. The Fightin' Engineers face Thomas More and Muskingum on Saturday in a pair of matches at Otterbein.
