TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's tennis team defeated Kentucky Wesleyan 7-2 at the Joy Hulbert Tennis Center on Sunday.
It was Senior Day for three Fightin' Engineers, Lauren Edwards, Sydney Short, and Becca Stanley.
Edwards and freshman Kyla Jarvis fell short in #1 doubles falling 8-6. Short and Stanley won at #2 doubles 8-1 and Naomi Bhagat and Betsy Richardson won 9-7 at #3 doubles.
Anna Thompson, Bella Evans, Naomi Baghat, Linde Schaffer, and Beata Barati all clinched wins in their respective matchups. Paige Bateman fell at #5 singles.
With the win, the RHIT women's tennis team improved to 10-2 overall. Next weekend the Fightin' Engineers will compete in the HCAC Championships in Indianapolis. Rose-Hulman competes in the HCAC Semifinal Round with a matchup against the winner of Franklin vs. Transylvania on Saturday at 1 p.m. The championship match is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Sunday.
