TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will compete in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal round on Saturday at 5 p.m., facing Bluffton University.
The match featuring No. 3 seeded Rose-Hulman (15-16, 6-3 HCAC) and No. 2 seeded Bluffton (21-8, 8-1 HCAC) will take place at Hanover College on Saturday at 5 p.m. The winner will advance to the HCAC Tournament championship match to take place at Hanover on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Rose-Hulman defeated Transylvania 21-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-20 in the HCAC Tournament Opening Round match at Hulbert Arena on Wednesday night.
Sophomore Bailey MacInnis led the Rose-Hulman offense with 16 kills and had a double-double with 12 digs. Freshman Katie Orbeta had a team-high 27 assists, junior Gabi Razma had a team-high 29 digs, and the duo of Mia Styczynski and Emily McLendon recorded six blocks each.
Rose-Hulman faces a Bluffton team that was unbeaten in conference play until its final match of the regular season, when the Beavers fell to Hanover. Bluffton topped the Fightin' Engineers 25-22, 25-17, 25-17 in the team's first meeting this season at Bluffton on Oct. 23.
The winner advances to the HCAC title round, and the eventual champion following Sunday's 1 p.m. championship match at Hanover will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
