RHIT Women Extend Streak to 14; Ranked 6th in Region

RICHMOND, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology extended its school record winning streak to 14 games and remained in a first place tie in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball standings at 13-2 in league play with a 62-52 win at Earlham College on Wednesday evening.

Rose-Hulman improved to 19-3 on the season with the win. Earlier today the Fightin' Engineers were ranked No. 6 in the NCAA DIII regional rankings, two spots ahead of conference foe Bluffton.

Freshman Chiarra Franklin led a balanced Rose-Hulman scoring attack with her second career double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds in the win.  Junior Abbie Marshall scored eight points, and freshman Ally Bromenschenkel added seven points and six boards.

Other key contributors to the balanced attack included senior Cassidy Cain with seven points; freshman Brianna Gliesmann with six points; and junior Jamie Loving with five points and eight rebounds.  

Defensively, Rose-Hulman held Earlham to just six points in the fourth quarter.  The Engineers also outrebounded the Quakers 45-27 in the win.

Rose-Hulman also won its 14th consecutive game and its 12th straight conference contest.  The Fightin' Engineers shot 39% from the field in the victory.

The Fightin' Engineers travel to Manchester on Saturday at 3 p.m. and then return home for their final two games of the regular season on Feb. 17 and Feb. 20.
