Women's Basketball Advances to HCAC Title Game

BLUFFTON, Ohio – Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology advanced to the championship game of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball tournament with a 68-55 win over Franklin College on Friday night.

Sophomore Alyzia Dilworth led a balanced scoring attack with a career-high 18 points. Freshman Ally Bromenschenkel also reached double figures with 11 points.

With the victory, Rose-Hulman will play for the HCAC championship for the first time in the 20-year history of women's basketball at the school. The Fightin' Engineers will face top-seeded Bluffton University on Saturday at 5 p.m., with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Other key Rose-Hulman contributors included junior Josie Schmidt with nine points, senior Cassidy Cain with eight points, freshman Chiarra Franklin with seven points and senior Andi Evers with six points.

Kayle Comer led Franklin with 14 points, as the Grizzlies completed their season with a 19-7 record.

Rose-Hulman shot 44% from the field and relied on a 39-26 rebounding advantage to earn the victory.  Franklin led by four points late in the first half, before Rose-Hulman turned the game around by 18 points over the next 10 minutes to earn its largest lead of the day at 44-30.

Rose-Hulman improved to 23-3 on the season and increased its school record winning streak to 18 games. The Fightin' Engineers would earn their first ever trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament with a win on Saturday.
