Men's Basketball Tops Franklin for Fifth Straight Win

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology earned its fifth straight men's basketball victory with a strong shooting performance in a 76-63 win at Franklin College on Wednesday night.

Senior Dillon Reynolds led three players in double figures with 17 points and five assists.  Freshman Luke Callahan came off the bench for 15 points and eight rebounds, while senior Tyler Duffy also reached double figures with 10 points.

Rose-Hulman shot 56% from the field in the first half to build a 41-29 lead at the break.  The Fightin' Engineers held Franklin to just 36% in the opening 20 minutes and outrebounded Franklin 46-27 for the game.

Other key contributors for Rose-Hulman included senior Matt Loesing with nine points; freshman Charlie Aimone added seven points and eight rebounds; and junior Collin Wojcik pitched in five points for an attack that had 10 different players score.

Aaron Mann led the Franklin offense with 24 points.  John Beineke also reached double figures for the Grizzlies with 11 points.  

Rose-Hulman turned its 12-point lead into as high as a 34-point edge in the second half.   The Engineers scored the first 10 points of the second half to turn their 41-29 lead into a 51-29 edge and never looked back.

Rose-Hulman moved to within one game of first place in the HCAC standings at 12-8 overall and 9-4 in league play with the victory.  Franklin dropped to 1-19 overall and 1-12 in league games.

The Fightin' Engineers also gained ground in the league standings, closing to within one game of first place Mount St. Joseph.  Rose-Hulman travels to Cincinnati to face the first place Lions on Saturday at 2 p.m.
