AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology improved to 3-1 on its annual Florida Spring Trip with a 4-2 extra inning win over John Carroll University on Tuesday.

The Fightin' Engineers scored twice in the top of the 10th inning to break a 2-2 tie, allowing Jonathan Banks to pick up the pitching win out of the bullpen.  Cody Sunderhaus recorded the final three outs for his first save of the season.

Rose-Hulman scored twice in the fourth inning to take a 2-0 lead, before John Carroll scored single runs in the sixth and seventh frames.  Senior Alec McNally offered a strong start to the Rose-Hulman pitching effort, scattering six hits and allowing just one run with seven strikeouts in six innings of work.

After the bullpens battled to put the game in extra innings, a key John Carroll error starting the rally.  Zach Trusk then smashed a double down the line to put Rose-Hulman ahead 3-2.  Later, a sacrifice fly by Hazen Hamather provided an insurance run in the 10th.

Trusk led the Rose-Hulman offense with two hits, including a double, two runs scored and one RBI.  Drew Schnitz scored twice, and Hamather was joined by Patrick Klima with one single and one RBI.

The John Carroll offense was held without an extra base hit in the contest.  Tyler Gentile and Dominic Mittiga had two singles each for the Bluestreaks.

Rose-Hulman stands 3-1 overall and returns to action on Thursday against Neumann with three games left in its annual Florida trip.  John Carroll dropped to 2-2 with Tuesday's loss.
