AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- Capital University rallied from an 8-2 deficit with eight runs in the seventh inning to top the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology baseball team 11-9 as part of the annual Florida spring trip on Friday.
Logan Bastin led the Capital offense with four hits, two runs scored and two RBIs. Justin Ennis added three hits for the Crusaders.
Senior Hazen Hamather led the Rose-Hulman offense with a 3-3 performance with three singles and two runs scored. Freshman David Burnside added two singles with three runs scored.
Senior Patrick Klima contributed four RBIs to the effort. Junior Zach Trusk blasted his second home run of the season among two hits.
Other key contributors included senior Kody Alayon with two singles, three RBIs and two runs scored; and senior Josh Koutnik with two singles and one run scored.
Senior Karson Nixon tossed six innings and scattered 10 hits with 10 strikeouts in a no-decision to lead the Rose-Hulman pitching performance.
Capital improved to 5-2 on the season, while Rose-Hulman droppeed to 4-2. The Fightin' Engineers close their annual Florida Trip with a matchup against Rhode Island College in Winter Haven on Saturday at 9 a.m.
