Softball Splits Twinbill on Final Day in Florida

CLERMONT, Fla. - The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers softball team split two games on Friday with a 4-1 loss to Roger Williams and a 2-1 victory over John Carroll to wrap up its annual Florida trip.  The Engineers finished with a 6-4 overall record during their spring trip.

In the first game against Roger Williams, the Engineers had five hits compared to Roger Williams seven hits.  Rose-Hulman didn't score until the bottom of the seventh inning when junior Janel Lake singled through the left side and sophomore Michelle Korf scored.

In the win against John Carroll, senior Taylor Lockhart tallied in nine strikeouts.  The Engineers had a total of 10 hits with runs by sophomore Jessica Will and senior Jett Bender.  The first run of the game came when sophomore Jenny Miller singled through the right side.

With the score tied 1-1 in the top of the seventh, Korf hits a bases loaded single down the left field line to send Rose-Hulman home with a victory.

The Fightin' Engineers finished 6-4 on their spring trip and will continue the season at home on Saturday, March 12th for a doubleheader against Greenville at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
