ADA, Ohio -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology recorded four top-five finishes at the Polar Bear Last Chance Invitational hosted by Ohio Northern University on Saturday.
Three fourth-place finishes led the Rose-Hulman performance. Brendon Mattiuz ran a mile time of 4:35.68, Trey Sykes leaped 21' 0 1/2" in the long jump and Charles Spaeth recorded a shot put mark of 50' 1 3/4". Josh Himes added another top five finish with a shot put mark of 49' 6 1/2".
Other competitors included Himes with a seventh place in the weight throw (52' 3 3/4"); Victoria Heckenlively in the 400-meter dash (1:00.42); and Spaeth in the weight throw (49' 0 1/4").
Rose-Hulman will open the NCAA Division III outdoor season with the Rose-Hulman Early Bird Invitational on March 19.
