TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology battled Hanover College in two tightly contested games before falling 2-0 and 6-5 in a softball doubleheader on Saturday at the Engineer Softball Field.

Prior to the game, Rose-Hulman celebrated Senior Day for three team members.  Jett Bender, Taylor Lockhart and Marissa Stout were honored for their contributions that have helped the team win more than 60 games in their playing careers.

In the opener, Lockhart and Sydney Griffin battled to a scoreless draw until the seventh and final inning.  Hanover scratched out two runs to pick up the win.  Tori Luster led the Hanover offense with two singles and one RBI.

Lockhart allowed just one earned run with five strikeouts in a complete game effort.  She allowed just five hits with no walks on the afternoon.  Jessica Will and Stout each had singles in game one.

The nightcap was a wild matchup, as Hanover led 3-0 and Anna Phillippe had a no-hitter going entering the final inning.  Rose-Hulman rallied with three runs to tie the score, with Morgan Dreyer hitting a two-run single and pinch hitter Michelle Korf tying the game with a two-out single.

Both teams scored one run in the eighth inning, but Hanover scored two to Rose-Hulman's one in the ninth to earn the win.  Lyndsea Burke led the Hanover offense with three hits, including a double.

Offensively, Dreyer led Rose-Hulman with three RBIs and had a single with one run scored.  Jenny Miller had a single and one RBI, while Stout contributed two runs and a single to the offense.  Miller tossed eight innings and allowed just two runs to keep the Engineers within striking distance.

Hanover improved to 13-14 and 5-5 in league play, while Rose-Hulman dropped to 11-15 and 2-8 in conference games.  The Fightin' Engineers return to action at Defiance College on Sunday in another league matchup.
