TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology concluded the 2016 softball season with 3-1 and 10-3 losses to HCAC title contender Anderson University on Thursday night.
In the opener, Anderson left fielder Brynn Gooding snapped a 1-1 tie with a two-run home run in the seventh inning. Megan Wade led the Ravens with two hits.
The Rose-Hulman offense featured a double from Maddie Struble, a single and one run scored by Gabbi Markison, a single by Jenny Miller and an RBI from Morgan Dreyer. Senior Taylor Lockhart tossed a complete-game six-hitter in the pitching circle, allowing no earned runs with five strikeouts.
In the nightcap, Markison blasted a three-run home run over the center field batter's eye to lead the Rose-Hulman offense. Markison had two hits, three RBIs and one run scored. Sophomore Jessica Will added a single and one run scored.
Markie Wood led the Anderson offense with a 3-3 performance that included six RBIs and a home run.
Anderson improved to 21-10 and 12-2 in HCAC play. The Fightin' Engineers finished the season 12-20 overall and 3-11 in conference play.
