Men's Tennis Wins Marathon at Ohio Wesleyan

DELAWARE, Ohio -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and Ohio Wesleyan University endured a marathon men's tennis match of over five hours, before the Fightin' Engineers battled their way to a 5-4 victory on Friday night.

The two teams battled to a 4-4 draw through five singles and three doubles matches, with just the No. 6 singles match still on court.  Freshman Andrew Schiffman rallied from one set down to capture a 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 victory to secure the Rose-Hulman victory.

Ohio Wesleyan led 2-1 after doubles play, but Rose-Hulman's one doubles win on the night made history.  The team of Georges Adam and Brandon Benedict set a single-season school record with their 17th win of the season as a doubles team by winning 8-4.

Adam also won his singles match to knot the score at 2-2.  Cam Metzger and Andre Adam contributed straight set wins to join Schiffman in adding to the Rose-Hulman team score.

Rose-Hulman improved to 13-7 on the season, while Ohio Wesleyan dropped to 7-8.  The Fightin' Engineers return home to face Mount St. Joseph (2-4, 0-1 HCAC) in a 10 a.m. match on Saturday morning to cap a three match in three days stretch.
