TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology capped a 2-0 weekend against NCAA Division III foes with a 9-0 win over Mount St. Joseph at the Joy Hulbert Tennis Center on Saturday morning.
Rose-Hulman won two doubles matches and five singles matches, with forfeit victories at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles, to improve to 14-7 on the season and 5-0 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
Georges Adam teamed with his brother Andre Adam for a victory at No. 1 doubles, while Brandon Benedict and Brendan Goldacker combined for a No. 2 win. In singles play, Rose-Hulman relied on victories by Georges Adam, Matt Conrad, Joe Kendall, Jacob Pluta and Andrew Schiffman to increase its lead in the HCAC standings.
Benedict also became Rose-Hulman's single season school record holder with 34 combined wins in 2016. He stands 15-7 in singles play and 19-7 in doubles matches to snap the previous school record of 33 combined wins set by Robert Kober in 1998.
Rose-Hulman also defeated Ohio Wesleyan 5-4 on Friday night as part of a 2-0 weekend. The Fightin' Engineers host Defiance College at 10 a.m. on April 16 and Wabash College at 4 p.m. on April 16 in a home doubleheader.
