SAUGET, Ill. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology advanced to the NCAA Division III Central Regional championship round with an 8-0 win over Wisconsin-Whitewater on Friday afternoon at GCS Ballpark.

Rose-Hulman will need one victory in two possible games on Saturday to earn its first trip to the NCAA Division III Baseball National Championship.  The Fightin' Engineers also seek their first trip to the NCAA Championship Round in any team sport on Saturday.

Senior Andrew Stull led the Rose-Hulman performance with an 89-pitch, five-hit shutout on the mound.  Stull allowed just five hits with one walk and six strikeouts to improve to 5-4 on the season.

Offensively, Rose-Hulman pounded out 16 hits against three Whitewater pitchers.  Senior Caleb Kissel led the onslaught with four singles, scored one run and had one RBI.

Senior Kody Alayon, junior Drew Schnitz, senior Donnie Waters, freshman David Burnside and senior Hazen Hamather added two hits each.  Alayon also became Rose-Hulman's career school record for stolen bases with the 53rd and 54th of his career during the win.

Alayon had two singles, two RBIs and scored once.  Schnitz provided two singles and one run.  Waters recorded two singles, one run and one RBI.  Burnside pitched in with two doubles and two runs scored, and Hamather added two singles, one run and a diving catch into the left field wall to cap the eighth inning.

Rose-Hulman advances to the NCAA Division III Central Region Championship Game on Saturday at 1 p.m. Central Time.  The opponent will be Wisconsin-Whitewater, and the game has been pushed back one hour due to the length of Friday night's 14-inning win by the Warhawks.
