Volleyball Completes 3-1 Weekend at Ill. Wesleyan

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology completed a 3-1 weekend by defeating Benedictine in three sets and falling in five sets to Coe on Saturday at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational.

Rose-Hulman topped Benedictine 25-15, 25-20, 25-19 to open Saturday action, before falling 14-25, 26-24, 21-25, 25-15, 15-7 to Coe in the second match.

Against Benedictine, junior Becca Poppel led the Rose-Hulman attack with 13 kills and 11 digs.  Freshman Adekite Oladipupo smashed nine kills and also had 10 digs.

The balanced assist performance was led by Alison Rogozinski with 18 and Katie Orbeta with 17.  Razma paced the squad with 19 digs, and Mackenzie Gossard had a team-high three service aces.  Emily McLendon led the blocking performance with three block assists.

Against Coe, Poppel again paced the offensive attack with 14 kills, 15 digs and three blocks.  Sophomore Bailey MacInnis contributed 11 kills and three block assists, and Oladipupo had nine kills.

Rogozinski had the top assist mark with 23, and Orbeta contributed 18 assists.  Razma paced five players with double figures in digs with 27.  Oladipupo had 22, Rogozinski 21, Poppel 15 and Orbeta recorded 13 for the balanced defensive effort.

The blocking statistics were led by McLendon with one solo blocks and four block assists.  Gossard, MacInnis and Poppel had three block assists each.

After Saturday's matches, Razma was awarded a spot on the all-tournament team for her efforts this weekend.

Rose-Hulman stands 3-5 on the season and hosts St. Mary-of-the-Woods on Wednesday night in the home opener at Hulbert Arena.
