ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology endured two tightly contest narrow losses to open the 2016 volleyball season in St. Louis on Friday night.

Webster defeated Rose-Hulman 25-21, 25-22, 25-23 in the opener.  In the nightcap, Rose-Hulman took sets one and four of a nearly 2 1/2 hour battle, before falling 26-24, 28-30, 18-25, 25-16, 13-15 to Adrian.

Webster held off two Rose-Hulman late charges to earn a 25-21, 25-22, 25-23 win in the first match of the evening.  Junior Mackenzie Gossard led the Rose-Hulman offense with eight kills, and freshman Adekite Oladipupo added seven kills and a team-high 15 digs.

Junior Alison Rogozinski recorded a team-high 21 assists and contributed 10 digs, with junior Becca Poppel adding five kills and 12 digs.  Junior Gabi Razma also provided 13 digs, and senior Emily McLendon led the blocking effort with three block assists.

In the nightcap, four players recorded 10 or more kills to lead the offensive attack.  McLendon had 13 kills and a team-high seven blocks.  Oladipupo, Poppel and Sydney Griffith contributed 11 kills each.

Defensively, Oladipupo recorded a team-high 24 digs with Razma adding 23.  Katie Orbeta (12), Poppel (11) and Rogozinski (10) also reached double figures in digs.  Rogozinski also had a team-high 32 assists.

Rose-Hulman completes the weekend with matches against DePauw (11:30 a.m. Central Time) and Washington University (1:30 p.m. Central Time) on Saturday.
