TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology opened the 2016 women's tennis with a 9-0 shutout victory over Oakland City University on Saturday at the Joy Hulbert Tennis Center.

Singles winners included junior Bella Evans at No. 1; freshman Anna Thompson at No. 2; freshman Naomi Bhagat at No. 3; and sophomore Linde Shaffer at No. 4.

In doubles play, the Fightin' Engineers recorded wins at No. 1 from Kyla Jarvis and Lauren Edwards and at the No. 2 flight from Beata Barati and Becca Stanley.

The squad also received forfeit victories at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions, along with the No. 3 doubles slot.

Rose-Hulman stands 1-0 on the season and travels to Transylvania University next Saturday.
