TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology won 16 of the evening's 32 events, helping the men earn a convincing dual meet victory against NCAA Division I Valparaiso University on Friday night at the Sports & Recreation Center Natatorium.
The men's squad picked up a 201-93 win over Valparaiso in the team scoring, while the women were very competitive in a 169-113 dual meet loss.
On the men's side, Rose-Hulman won 12 total events including both relays. Individually, Dutch Kipp led the performance with three individual event victories. Kipp won the 100-backstroke (55.16), 200-backstroke (1:59.95) and the 200-individual medley (2:00.02).
Double-event individual winners for the Fightin' Engineers included Cam Gill in the 100-freestyle (48.18) and 200-freestyle (1:46.51); and Peter Venema in one-meter (272.50) and three-meter diving (259.65).
The men's performance also included individual event wins for Nick Barr in the 100-breaststroke (1:02.84); Patrick King in the 100-butterfly (54.21); and Tyler Sariscsany in the 50-freestyle (22.25). The 200-medley relay team of Kirk Dickson, Ethan Park, King and Kipp won in 1:39.43, while the 200-freestyle relay squad of Sariscsany, Sean Gish, Greg Wenning and Gill won in 1:39.43.
On the women's side, Elisa Weber paced Rose-Hulman with two individual victories. Weber won both the 200-individual medley (2:21.69) and 200-breaststroke (2:36.99).
Other event winners included Michaela Kivett in three-meter diving (201.90 points), and Michelle Reese in one-meter diving (239.15 points).
Rose-Hulman returns to action with a road dual meet at Anderson University next Friday.
