Volleyball Advances to HCAC Title Match for First Time Since 2011

HANOVER, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will compete for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championship and a bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament on Sunday after earning a four-set victory on Saturday.

Second-seeded Rose-Hulman will take a 20-11 record into Sunday's HCAC Tournament final against top-seeded and tournament host Hanover (25-5) at 1 p.m. 

Rose-Hulman advanced to the HCAC Tournament final with a 25-23, 19-25, 25-14, 27-25 victory over Transylvania University on Saturday evening.

Junior Bailey MacInnis led the Rose-Hulman offense with 19 kills, and sophomore Katie Orbeta also reached double figures with 10 kills.  Senior Becca Poppel contributed eight kills to the offensive performance.

Orbeta led the team with 30 assists, and senior Alison Rogozinski provided 18 assists and 14 digs.  Gabi Razma led four players with double-figure digs with 26.  Other players with 10 or more digs included Rogozinski (14), Katryna Dahlberg (14) and Poppel (13).

Mia Styczynski and Mackenzie Gossard led the blocking effort with four total blocks each.  MacInnis joined Marissa Gollnick with three blocks.

Rose-Hulman advances to the HCAC Tournament final for the second time in program history and the first time since 2011.  The Fightin' Engineers seek their second NCAA Tournament trip in program history on Sunday.
